Compositeworks are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted with designer Michela Reverberi for Sailing Yacht Over 40 Metres Award within The International Yacht and Aviation Awards 2018.

The extensive refit of Spirit of the C’s was completed at the Compositeworks shipyard in La Ciotat, with major interior and exterior design modifications. A particularly demanding project, due to a very short time frame, the challenge was to re-create an elegant and timeless interior, while reflecting the spirit of the family that own the boat. The design brief was to create a totally different atmosphere while maintaining as much of the existing structure and panelling as possible.

One of the main design interventions was removing the main deck salon aft bulkhead and replacing it with sliding doors in its place, therefore significantly increasing the source of natural light and creating a natural inside/outside transition. These new concepts, coupled with a new colour palette, created a relaxed and brighter living space. On the port side, Michela Reverberi designed a connection between the salon and the old captain’s office, using it to provide the owner with his own office, a facility he appreciated for his business. In the dining room, the bar was rotated 90 degrees and the colour palette was adjusted to follow the one of the salon, creating a unity for all the main deck. The main deck now has a teak and holly floor that continues from outside. Leather was added in the frames of the walls and cabinets. The designers selected the reverse side, to give a smooth effect, but rough enough to balance the clean and elegant surrounding area. The staircase was re-created to be more aerial and contemporary. The lower guest accommodation deck was in the majority structurally left intact but undertook amazing transformations to the new style particularly in the owner’s cabin and bathroom.
